Whispering Woods

Whispering Woods is the only a cappella community choir dedicated to singing outdoors. It was initially started in 2011,  to take part in the first Whispering Woods event at West Dean Arboretum in West Sussex.

Since then, the choir has sung at special events at Bignor Park in 2012 and 2014, the Weald and Downland Museum, Woods Mill and Bramber Beeches. In 2017 they broke with tradition and took part in the South Downs Poetry Festival event to commemorate the centenary of Edward Thomas in Steep church. The choir also sing at regular annual events to celebrate the summer solstice, tree dressing and wassailing,

Their repertoire spans a wide variety of styles including songs by Randy Newman, The Watersons, The Unthanks, Nina Simone, The Amidons, Kenny Wheeler, Panic and the Disco, Tower of Power, Anon and new compositions by Rebecca and other contemporary composers.

All material taught by ear, no previous experience necessary.
